It is one of the first documents which you must request upon your arrival in Canada. It is a numerical document for Social Security, a document of identity required by the Canadian employers, the police force, doctors, the financial institutions and the State.

The agencies of the center of immigration of Canada will explain to you in a detailed way, all the steps which you must traverse to make this application. The procedure concerning obtaining this document is simple: you must fill a form, and indicate the necessary informations which are in your passport or on the visa of permanent residence.

Two weeks after having dispatched the form, you should receive a numerical document which contains your social insurance number.
